Great fans of shooting hoops the WAVE Team escaped for a recent Friday afternoon and blew out a few cobwebs on the B-Ball court. The WAVE Rockets took on the WAVE dancing with the stars team! Who won? I can"t remember I was too busy laughing.

30 Days of Fashion and Beauty
2 Oct 09 - Posted by: Amanda - WAVE Senior Creative

WAVE Account Manager Cheryl Brown (left) and Senior Creative Amanda Ward (right), joined Rachel Beere and her team from DFS Galleria last week at their 30 Days of Fashion and Beauty Investment Dressing Event at DFS Galleria Customhouse in Auckland. One of the great perks of being the creative agency for DFS! The Fashion Quarterly team demonstrated how to spend your money wisely to invest in pieces that stand the test of time, proving the theory that all of us girl's know and love of "cost-per-wear" actually works. Forget the latest IT BAG on the arm of the latest IT GIRL, it's all about "stealth wealth" these days!

Photographic success at NZIPP Awards
1 Sept 09 - Posted by: Brendan - WAVE Creative Director

Commercial photographer Craig Robertson has earned a number of impressive accolades at the recent Epson/NZIPP Iris Awards held in Wellington.

One of the images that earned a silver in the Commercial category Craig shot for a WAVE client project assisted by WAVE art director and designer Adam Lurman.

Craig was also awarded a Gold in the People category (shot for TePuia) and Bronze in the Landscape category (a personal shot). As a result Craig has qualified for "Master of Photography NZIPP" distinction.

Congratulations Craig, we've always known you're a great talent.

To check out all the other award winning entries go to the NZIPP website http://www.nzipp.org.nz and find out when the touring print exhibition of award winning images is coming to your town or city.

I wish I’d thought of that!

Ink Calendar by Spanish designer Oscar Diaz is a very cool example of smart design thinking. Made out of blotting paper. Different coloured inks (for each month) are absorbed from a small bottle, and the numbers in the calendar are revealed each day everyday until the end of the month.

The colors range from dark blue in December to three shades of green in spring or orange and red in the summer.

If you"re lucky enough to be anywhere near Madrid the full calendar is on display as part of an exhibition at the Círculo de Bellas Artes until 11 October 2009.

Big Ups for Semi Permanent 09

20 Aug 09 - Posted by: Brendan - WAVE Creative Director

Very early on a recent Friday morning myself and the rest of the Creative team managed to ‘sneak" away for two awesome days at the latest Semi Permanent Design conference. I"ve been to about five of these conferences over recent years and thought the 09 offering was the best so far.

A near perfect mix of speakers, really funny ‘MC"ing courtesy of Te Radar and a constant flow of inspiration and creativity. Covering everything from advertising, illustration, animation, photography, graphic design, brand development, guerrilla marketing and corporate responsibility.

Too many highlights to list them all. The only dud presentation was weta digital but in all fairness this was mainly because they were last on the first day and were legally unable to show anything from works in progress and the presentation content was stuff I"d seen before.

If only the guy sitting in front of me hadn"t taken the ‘Perm" part of the conference so seriously I may have been able to see better.
