USA/Mexico
6 Jun 2010 - Posted by: Brendan - WAVE Creative Director

I was recently very lucky to be able to spend a few weeks with my family travelling to Los Angeles and then on to Mexico. There were many highlights including the Mayan Rivera where we did heaps of snorkelling with colourful tropical fish and Mexico City where we OD"d on galleries, theatre, museums, historic buildings and ancient ruins. I took over 850 photographs along the way. Here are just a few of my favourites

Young Creatives WIN Dream Trip to Aussie
25 Jan 2010 - Posted by: Brendan - WAVE Creative Director

Encouraged by a top ten finish in a previous WhatNow competition Caitlin and Quinn Herring were keen to have another go when WhatNow announced their latest competition to win a family trip to Dream World and White Water World on the Gold Coast. The competition was to design and make a prototype for a new Dream World ride.

Their entry, Power Planet is an exciting new roller coaster ride set in a futuristic galaxy. Astronauts from earth were trying to retrieve an energy orb to help provide humans extra sustainable power when they crash landed on Power Planet. The ride is the mission to rescue the astronauts and the orb before the fearsome two headed aliens find it and use it to destroy earth. It takes you past The Mysterious Moon Rock Ranges, the Frozen Forest, into a Toxic Slime Pit and bursting out a fiery Mount Magma before navigating a meteor storm on the return home.

There were two family trips to be won and the Herrings were lucky enough to win one of them and within a couple of weeks were enjoying the wild rides of Dream World for themselves.

Discovering Typographical Kiwi Inspiration
Submitted by: Kim - WAVE Creative

I came across this sign whilst traveling around the stunning remote regions of Taranaki, during Easter.

We hit a remote intersection where it was slightly vague on which direction to take - no official destination signage in sight. However, as I'm always scanning for creative inspiration, I spotted some small type of domestic-tagging on the direction-sign. So, I just had to hold up the journey - jumped out the car - and stood in the middle of the intersection capturing a stunning piece of creative Kiwi ingenuity. Is this art?? Or is it the foundation of a new typeface in the making??

(and yes, the sign is still standing there, where it should be!)

Celebrity chef Sophie Grey
10 April 2010 - Posted by: Glenn - WAVE Director

Celebrity chef Sophie Grey, known as the Destitute Gourmet, spent the day at WAVE Director Glenn Dougal"s house for a personal cooking demonstration for 8 friends.
It was wonderful to see Sophie using and recommending so many of WAVE"s food and beverage clients including Regal Salmon, Grove Avocado Oil, Alpha-One Rice Bran Oil and Verde Sparkling Wine.
The final menu included hummus and a creamy salsa verde, fragrant chicken lemongrass curry, home made pasta with smoked salmon and truffle cake.

Satara Co-operative hosted their Annual Grower event on Friday which included a unique excursion on a historic Steam Train.

250 guests boarded the Satara Steamer from Kiwi360 and journeyed to Kawerau where they were hijacked by some curious characters.

All in the spirit of a fabulous "Big Day Out."
